Paths & threads

Routes

Routes are reading paths and visual threads — a way for Nicole Junkermann to move from one idea, city or page to the next, without forcing a single story.

A route is just a line drawn between two things worth connecting. Some of them are cities; most of them are ideas.

01

Paths through ideas

One mark leads to another until a direction appears. The route is the thinking, more than the map.

02

Maps and movement

Marks, lines and small coordinates keep each journey legible long after it has been walked.

03

Quiet discoveries

The best stops are rarely planned — a side street, a paragraph, a view held a little longer than needed.

Plotting the next stretch

Each route is drawn lightly, in pencil, so it can change. A new reading or a remembered street is enough to redraw the line and carry on.
